This study on Servant Leadership is published in response to requests from officers and soldiers for material giving clear direction and practical advice for those engaged at all levels of Salvation Army leadership.
It is also a direct response to the recommendation of the International Spiritual Life Commission that The Salvation Army promotes servant leadership at all levels. In addition, it complements the International Commission on Officership report, which highlighted servant leadership as being the leadership model for the Army worldwide. There is a consistent message coming through.
It is intended that this book be placed in the hands of all who take on leadership within the movement, whether in corps, centers, headquarters or other roles. It is deliberately concise, uncomplicated and easy to read. In this way it can more usefully achieve the aim of assisting leaders 'at all levels' and be studied at whatever depth best helps the reader.
The book may be studied by a group of leaders of read alone. It may be discussed or privately considered. Whatever the case, the aim is the same ᄀᆰ that Salvation Army leaders will become more Christlike as they take up the challenge to serve in their Master's name.
