Songs of Salvation
Song Leader & Guitar Book
"Sing till your whole soul is lifted up to God, and then sing till you lift the eyes of those who know not God to Him who is the fountain of all our joy."
- General William Booth, Founder of The Salvation Army
Songs Of Salvation has been updated and reformatted to provide music intended to especially minister to the needs of those who worship at Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation and Harbor Light Centers. Particular attention has been given to ensure the use of classic and contemporary hymns, songs and choruses that will imprint spiritual truth and assurance of God's love and grace in all circumstances while contributing to the unity of congregational worship.
The two hundred songs and choruses included in this songbook have been set in a comfortable voice range with accompaniments designed to be as accessible yet pianistic. Chords symbols are also provided to accommodate other instruments such as guitar, accordion and bass ᄀᆰ as well as pianists who are more experienced at 'playing by ear.'
It is hoped this worship resource will be used to provide functional and supportive accompaniment in virtually any congregational setting. As Oscar Silde said, "The only difference between the saint and the sinner is that every saint has a past, and every sinner has a future." In other words, we are all sinners save by grace ᄀᆰ and the music found here is offered in praise and thanksgiving for this truth.
This edition of Songs Of Salvation has taken several years to complete. From inception to near completion, this project was blessed to have the editorial support of Lt. Colonel (Dr.) Ray Steadman-Allen OF, indisputably the dean of Salvation Army composers. He pursued this project with typical thoroughness and skill until his sudden but peaceful passing at the age of 92 on December 15, 2014. Grateful appreciation is expressed to his daughter, Reverend Barbara Steadman-Allen, who added her musical skills to bring her father's work to completion.IN APPRECIATION
