Overview
The Story of William Booth and The Salvation Army
- By Richard Collier
- 320 pages.
- Published 1965, Collins Clear Type Press
This book has been five years in the making. In the autumn of 1959, I first approached General Wilfred Kitching, The Salvation Army's seventh General, with a new concept: a centenary history of William Booth and the endeavors of his army, to be told for the first time by a non-Salvatoinist, entirely for the lay man and woman. To General Kitching and his successor ,General Frederick Coutts, therefore, goes my deepest gratitude; their kindness and encouragement made it possible for me to make contacts and study records I would otherwise have missed altogether.
