Program Note
This arrangement seeks to portray the joy we have when we discover that our sins have been washed away by accepting Christ, the Water f Life, into our lives. In John 4:13-14, we see that Jesus relates himself to an unending draught of water that is given to a man dying of dehydration. He gives us just what we need when we need it. That is what these words tell us:
Note to the Conductor
- Once I was far in sin,
- But Jesus took me in,
- Down where the living waters flow;
- ᄀᆴTwas there he gave me sight
- And let me see the light,
- Down where the living waters flow.
- ?
- Down where the living waters flow,
- Down where the Tree of Life does grow;
- I'm living in the light,
- For Jesus, now I fight,
- Down where the living waters flow.
This arrangement should give young ensembles plenty of opportunity to work on subtle differences in dynamics as you seek to work the build-up in energy throughout this piece. Work hard at teaching your students the difference between mp and mf, and mf and f, because these differences will be essential to an effective performance. Outside of this, your ensemble should be presented with little difficulty.
